We celebrated Oliver's birthday back in March and it was such a great party! I used to really try to plan out birthday parties, get creative with decorations, and try to make it pinterest worthy. I recently read somewhere that your kids don't really care about that stuff and they mainly just want to have cake and play with their friends. I talked to Oliver and found out exactly what he wanted and who he wanted to invite. He wanted a Star Wars party, a Darth Vader cake, pizza pizza (Little Caeser's), and his closest people. It was simple, wonderful, and he was beaming the whole day!
Ma, Pa, and Gigi got Oliver a basketball goal this year. It was a hit at the party and I know he'll be spending time out there this summer.
A Star Wars party isn't complete without some light saber fights. I think that may have been Oliver's favorite part!
The only person Oliver wanted to invite to his party, besides family, was Ms. Mindy. She is his assistant at school and he was SO happy to have her here. She got him a game, a bag of doritos and sprite and I wish I had a picture of him opening that present. He was ecstatic! You know him well, Ms. Mindy!
Bob and Boone (Kevin's dog) finally got to meet. They spent the day running around the back yard and they were worn out by the end of the party. It was great!
It's always hard to get everyone's schedules lined up so we actually celebrated a week before his birthday. Thank goodness we did because the pictures below are from his actual birthday! We got 10 inches of snow! Jared had an event that night but the kids and I spent the day relaxing at home. We did a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, played in the snow, and watched movies. It was lovely!
Now on to planning Ivy's birthday party. Where Oliver wanted simple, Ivy wants unicorns, rainbows, cake, pancakes, bacon, and who knows what else she'll add to the mix. I may have to venture back onto pinterest after all. Oh girl!
